Keeping Up Appearances

What’s up guys?

Happy Valentine’s in arrears

What does today’s topic mean??

Now, I’m not talking just about the way you dress or cut your hair or sag your pants and still wear a belt or how you raise the collar of that your Polo shirt (this thing cracks me up). No, No, but then it’s

sort of part of the whole matter. When you try to go the extra to satisfy those around you just because you don’t want to be called a “Bolo” or a “slacker”, and then you stretch yourself to the point of your elastic limit where you can even return to your original self.

Some people go out of their way to get luxury things just because they want to belong. Don’t get me wrong, living luxurious can be good, just don’t be drinking garri because you want to feel among. You’ll have kwashiorkor and those clothes won’t look good on you and that expensive Hublot wristwatch will be falling off your hand, no matter how many the amount of holes you create on the leather. You’d hear them say “I have this and that”, “my parents are this and that, they always travel to different countries everyday and that’s why I haven’t introduced you guys to them cos’ they’re never around”. Lies from the pit of hell and you’re just looking at them drop it like it’s hot like:

I know how it feels to not have when others around you have, but when you’re now forming, how would someone that wants to help now truly know that you lack? Don’t let peer pressure turn you into what you’re not originally cos’ “an original is worth more than a copy”.

“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly responding to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you” Rom 12:2 (MSG)

The book that contains knowledge on everything has clearly stated it. Let’s try to work that out.
